Sounds like you did a drag and drop. You can probably right click on the start button to open the folder and drag the one you want back where it belongs. If not, it will be something similar to this. You might also right click on the desktop icon and there may be a "move to" or "send to" item.

Gary: I tried those suggestions but still no luck in getting it back into my program line-up. I do appreciate the help and consideration and if I get it going, I'll come back and post what I found.

| I'll assume you're running some incarnation of Windows. Open Windows Explorer, and cut (Ctrl-X) the shortcut from the Desktop at the top of Explorer. Now find the approprite Start Menu entry. This will probably be under Documents and Settings, and could be under All Users, Default User, or your user name. Once you have found the right one, paste (Ctrl-V) the shortcut. |

Jim: Thank you as well for the help and procedures. I do have Windows ME and I tried for an hour or so with your suggestions and no change accomplished. I'll keep trying with it...

Paul,
This seems long, but if you're familiar with "My Computer" in Folders mode, or "Windows Explorer" it will be easy.
What you've actually moved to the destop is a "shortcut". If it's still there on the desktop, open up My Computer, select "Folders" and browse (drill down) to a path similar to this one...
C:\Documents and Settings\user\Start Menu\Programs\Accessories
Where "user" is your account name on the PC. Once you get the Accessories folder icon displayed on the left side, go back up to the desktop (very top of the left window). Select that shortcut you want back on the menu, scroll the left window back down so that the Accessories folder is again visible on the left window, while the selected shortcut remains visible in the right-hand window. Drag the shortcut to Accessories and you're done.
You can then go to the Accessories menu drag it up the list to change its position within that menu.
If you've deleted it from the desktop then you'll need to locate the executable, right click and select "create shortcut"; drag that shortcut to the Desktop and follow the procedure above.

Paul-- Gary and Jim have, basically, been telling you right.
First, though, let's make sure the desktop icon is the actual folder and not a shortcut:
RIGHT-click the icon and then LEFT-click 'properties' on the resultant window. If the properties window does NOT have a 'shortcut' tab, fine. Otherwise, post and I'll tell you what else to do.
Now, open WINDOWS Explorer and scroll down to where you can see the Windows/Start Menu/Programs in the folder (left) pane.
Resize the Explorer window and/or move the desktop icon so that BOTH that folder and the icon are visible.
Finally, LEFT-click the icon and WHILE HOLDING THE LEFT BUTTON DOWN, drag it ONTO the Explorer window and ONTO the 'PROGRAMS' folder (left pane) or onto a blank area in the file (right) pane. The folder will be hi-lighted when you're at the correct position. RELEASE the left button to drop the Accessories icon (folder).
That's it. If you mess up, just LEFT-click on the folder icon, again, and drag it wherever you wish. --Everett |

I have printed out all of these instructions and have tried them but still no progress. I think it's time for a computer upgrade as I've had this one for almost four years. I recently had the MS security upgrades installed by them abd upgraded my virus and firewall things. A lot of things just don't work right and it is frustrating to keep slugging at it with no progress. I'll keep trying though and let you know if something works.
