Hello all - I just set up some recording software on my PC at home, and I was looking at the Amplitube amp simulator - has anyone tried this for pedal steel? I'm looking for a way to go direct in (to keep the peace on the home front), and this looked like it might be a good solution.

I have the Amplitude but I rarely use it. It's 'okay' but still has some way to go. I would recommend looking for a used Line6 POD, I still use my original model that I bought in 2000. It's much more realistic sounding than the Amplitude, and I'm sure these original models can be bought very cheap on eBay these days.
The Behringer "V-Amp" is also a good alternative that I've heard good things about, but I've never tried one myself.

One other item you might try... a (24 bit) Digitech RPX400. It has the USB hook up PLUS the software for recording. Can be used on stage. It has many, many effects including amp modeling and cabinet modeling with different speaker placements. Mine was under $300. Go to www.digitech.com and check it out. The Genesis 3 was about $100 or so more. Both Muscians Friend and American Music have them in stock.
