I'm using Microsoft I.E. As of today I can no longer open links that are posted on the Forum or even E-mail.I click the link, it just sits there.Any ideas?It's worked perfect till today. Make it simple please.Cause I'm as dumb as a rock when it comes to computers.Thanks.----------bb |

Just noticed: When I click EDIT,SEND E-mail or PROFILE.It just sits there.Even when I click STOP it has no affect.Thanks in advance....................bb |

Did you reboot the system, Bobby? As you open and close programs you use resources that may not be reclaimed by Windows. It's a good idea to reboot periodically or anytime you experience irregular performance. Shut it down (by going through 'Start' - 'Shut Down') and let it sit for a minute or two before starting up again. This will make sure that the dynamic RAM is cleared.

Bobby; try clicking Tools at the top on your internet explorer...and click "internet options" and click the "Advanced" tab....and at the bottom click "Restore defaults"...and then click OK and then close all that and reboot...

instead of clicking on a link, try this :
right click on the link, and then select the 'open in new window' option.
This is something that has worked for me in similar circumstances in the past.

Links posted on the Forum are opened with an attribute of target="_blank". This basically means that the link will generate a new window, so that you don't lose your place on the Forum.
It's easy for me to imagine a poorly written "popup blocker" that would disable the target="_blank" feature of standard HTML code. Have you installed a "popup blocker" program recently?

For what it's worth.The (edit) link and an e-mail link,(IF) posted by a member will work.But nothing else.Hope this helps.
On a positive note.I've saved hundreds maybe thousands of dollars the last few days.I can't click for anyones E-mail so I can't buy anything.The wife loves that part.

Nothing happens.
The new window may be blank.
You may receive a scripting error message.
When you use the Print command or the Print Preview command in Internet Explorer, nothing may happen.
When you try to connect to Web folders, you may receive the following error message:
The current operation could not be completed because an unexpected error has occurred.
CAUSE
This behavior may occur for any of the following reasons:
The (Default) value setting in one or more of the following registry keys points to an incorrect location for the Urlmon.dll file:

Quit all programs that are running.

Thanks soooo much Terry.But did you read the part about me being as dumb as a rock? I'd have better luck rebuilding an Emmons Push Pull from scratch.No kidding!I can do that.But I guess I'd better have someone take a look at the old puter.Thanks again for your trouble.regards Bobby |

Bobby, you may try installing the latest Internet Explorer patch or reinstalling the last run patch. This may repair whatever's changed. Click on 'Start - Windows Update'. This will take you to the Microsoft web page and you'll find a list of patches recommended for your configuration.

Bobby,
I may have you try and "Uninstall" Internet Explorer, then install it again.
To do this,
1. Goto your control panel. Usually START MENU -> Settings -> Control Panel.
2. Once in the control panel, you want to select "Add/Remove Programs".
3. Once inside Add/Remove programs you will see some buttons on the right side. Click the button "Add/Remove Windows components".
4. This will bring up a dialog box with a bunch of applications with check boxes. Remove the check mark from Internet Explorer and then hit next.
5. It will remove internet Explorer. Then reboot your machine.
6. Now go back to the same control panel you were in and now ADD the checkmark in INternet Explorer and then hit NEXT. This will reinstall it.

I had a similar problem with IE, so I thought. The only cure was a clean install of my OS. I tried to reinstall IE, no luck. I tried to reinstall windows over my os so I could save what was on my hard drive, no luck. I went through several suggestions but nothing worked, like what you are going through now. I hope someone else comes up with a better solution. If they do please post the results. winston may |
