hi all,
new to this site, been playing lap steel just a few months. 30+ playing guitar, mandolin, banjo. but anyway, i recently 'found' a lap steel that i think is the model in the subject.
steel body, covered in the famous MOTS, ball end of the strings attach at the top where the head should be, tuning is done with an allen wrench at the bridge.
just trying to get some information about this lap steel. i haven't gotten the nerve, (or a non-metric allen wrench to tune the beast) and might need to replace the tuners.
electronics seem to work, but a little scratchy.
thanks,
dab

Welcome to the site. You'll find some great people here.

From what i've heard (never played one of these), they were difficult to tune. Go ahead and give it a shot. You've got nothing to lose. Magnotones made everything from student models to professional.
