| Just a shot in the dark but my one of the guys in a band I'm in wants to do Lindley's "Hands Like a Man" from his "Mr. Dave" album and, while I remember the basics of the song, I sure wish I had a copy of it to listen to~ does anyone out there have one? I'd be appreciative~ Jim |

I've looked for that recording for a while without luck. Every so often you see a copy on eBay, but it always sells for far more than I'm willing to pay.

Hey Jim. I can't help you in your search for the Lindly song, but wanted to say hi and thank you again for all your help with my Harmos. I got it back and all problems were fixed. Thanks Howard....I thought I was crazy for thinking that.......somewhere I have a picture of him, sitting down playing and it looks just like Jack. I'll have to track it down....

You've never seen David Lindley in a Jack Nicholson movie or Nicholson at a Lindley concert. Hmmm.....

Jay, agreeing with me does not make you "not crazy".....  .....but since we're thinking the same thing here, Nicholson in the last part of The Shining is a dead ringer for David Lindley.
BTW, I saw David Lindley a few nights ago. He does a fantastic Jimmy Stewart impersonation. Even sang an entire song in Jimmy Stewart's voice. For real. [This message was edited by HowardR on 15 November 2004 at 09:03 AM.] |

Yeah, I've noticed that too, Howard. Lindley compares himself to Nicholson in 'Werewolves of London' too. Y'know, come to think of it, you never see them in the same place. Hmm...
The first time I saw David Lindley back in '96 with Hani Naser, he did Jimmy Stewart as his speaking voice almost the whole night.

I'll bring my tiny digital camera and try to get some shots. not sure of the policy of the Cedar Cultural Center where he is playing this sunday. it may be kind of loose, as it's run by a bunch of grown hippies.

back from seeing David Lindley. a British gent opened. Andew legg. an accomplished finger style player. his pedal board was huge. it took to people to carry it. when he played it sounded like a synth orchestra was backing him. after awhile it sounded gimmicky to me.
Lindley is still the man. what great playing and stage presence. he told many stories and his songs are wonderful. I cannot believ his voice is the same as in the 70's.
he played two weissenborns (sp?) two Martins , a saz and an electric oud.
I love watching his right hand. its a blur of rythmic precision.
he spoke of his new CD. a tour of Europe with Ry Cooder and both of their daughters. he said it came out great and was very very greasey.
I met him after the show and exteneded a hello from this Forum. he said Hi back.
my toes are still tapping. |

Thanks for the replies- I tried to get a copy of "Mr. Dave" from ebay- won it and then was told by the seller that it was "unavailable/lost, etc."  ~ still lookin for "Hands Like A Man" .mp3 or any other format~~ thanks in advance- Jim |
