I get the "file system error 608" every now and again. I have to re-boot to restore the CD program which recognizes that there is a Cd in the drive. What gives. It's annoying as H***!
Thanks in advance.

I found only a few references to your problem on Usenet. The only suggestions offered were: quote: 3 things to try.
1) Boot into Safe Mode
Open Device Manager
Remove all CDROM devices
Reboot.
2) Check the CDROM maker's web site for firmware update for your model.
3) Open "My Computer"
Right click on your CDROM drive
click "Eject"

Joe,
I would go into Device Manager and remove your CD-ROM from the list. Then reboot. Windows will recognize a new device (your cd-rom which you just removed) and it will install the drivers again. I would try that first. Post back here if it didnt work.
