I am completely in the dark on MP 3. Is this something you can download for free or is it something you have to buy. I have a Macintosh IMAC. Thanks for any assistance. |

George,
MP3 is a music compression scheme for computers. If you copied a regular music track from a CD it would be around 40-50 MB. That is kind of large. They came up with this compression scheme and called in MP3. It makes the sound file or CD tracks in nice 2-3MB files. Easy for posting on a website and downloading from a computer.
I like MusicMatch Jukebox. It is free at http://www.musicmatch.com there is also WinAmp which is very popular it is at http://www.winamp.com I see that you have a Macintosh and I have no idea if there products run on a Macintosh. Your IMAC should already have a MP3 player built into it somewhere. Maybe a Mac person on the forum could point you to it.
