High Speed CD Writer vs Software issues

I bought one of those Yamaha CRW3200 high speed writers, 24x/10/40 . Installation was not without stress..again...and some cussing.. Here's the scoop. I currently use Musicmatch 6.0 and own a full version. The CD Writer comes with Yamaha burning software ( Nero) some utilities and Musicmatch 6.0. One would assume that because it comes with MM 6.0 all is cool...NOT....This Hi Speed drive is not compatible with MM 6.0, but is compatible with MM 7.0 , so you have to download the upgrade to 7.0 from 6.0 from within the MM 6.0 upgrade software menu. It doesn't take long but 6.0 will not recognize that the Yamaha CRW3200 CD writer is installed. AND, big AND here , if you don't own the full 6.0 version with proper S/N you can't get 7.0 ! Another note, Adaptec, any version , doesn't not support this Hi speed drive either. All this being said, after doing all this un-documented stuff that the kids in the store don't have a clue about ,( no I didn't ask anyone for help)( but we all know that if I did they would have asked me to re-boot, re-load the software and basically tell me that I am configuring it wrong and no one else in the Global reach of Best Buy has this problem and probably that I am to old to know anything too..) the drive does burn baby burn ! The drive, using the included Nero software, unless you tell it otherwise will recognize the CD blank disk speed capacity and burn at the highest speed with no problems...Also, the Nero software will burn any audio file to CD and convert it to CD quailty on the fly as well. Neat little trick ! Generally the conversion needed to be done in a program like MusicMatch etc...Moral of this story ?, there is none, the installation and written documentation is the same old same old...

TONY- Just yesterday I purchased YAMAHA 2200EZ CD Drive with Neoro 5.5 for $128.00 ($30.00 REBATE) So far I copied about 5 songs to my 1st CD. Took me about 2 hours to get it right. I had to disconnect my ZIP drive inside my PC so I could hook the new drive into my oroiginal CD-DVD drive. Now I have a ZIP drive that does'nt work.

My biggest problem is this:
I have MIDI songs that I have downloaded off the internet into CAKEWALK. They work great in CAKE WALK & the VSC Roland Player and I can edit the hell out of them. For almost 8 hours now I have been trying to copy these MIDI songs onto a CD. I have tried everything under the sun to make a MIDI song into a wave file. I did get "Crazy Arms" using CAKEWALK(don't ask me how I did it) to convert into what I believe is a wave file. It's about 30 MB in size but when I loaded into Nereo 5.5 and burned the song onto a new CD the file is on the CD but.. NO SOUND when I play the CD back.

So what am I doing wrong???

Kenneth I think the best way around this is to record your midi files as .wav files on your PC either with the MS audio program or a program like MusicMatch. Then convert them to CD files from either Nero or Musicmatch..

Maybe there is a software package to do this but I am not familiar with it or maybe it costs a fortune !
