Does anyone know of a basic screen capture
program that I can use to transport data
from source to Windows Paint.
It comes in very handy for editing music, tab etc.

Here's one you don't even have to buy. Have the window you want to capture sized the way you want it. Click inside the window to be sure that window is the active one. Press Alt-Print Screen (usually above your Insert key). Open Paint, select Edit - Paste. That will put a screen shot of the active window in Paint. The same tip works for Microsoft Word and WordPad.

Roy;
I use a program called "Hypersnap" to get screen captures of Buddy's tab, which is in MS Word. I then use Micrograx Picture Publisher to edit and size them. I think you can get it from http://www.downloads.com Just search for it. It seems to work pretty good.
Good luck!

If you tag the "Print Scrn" key the screen is saved to the clipboard. Then paste the image into any photo editing software including Microsoft Paint.

Print Screen will capture the whole screen. Alt-Print Screen only captures the active window.

This is great, however both print screen, and alt-print screen and even alt-shift-print screen give me the whole screen and not just the active window in a word document. Am I missing something? Ken

Make sure you hold the Alt key down while you hit Print Screen.
