Hey Rick! For a 29-30 year old guy, that Bobby Ingano is one fabulous guitar player; skilled/talented beyond his years. Always a happy friendly smile on his face and I would imgine, never a negative thought crosses his mind. He and Jeff Au Hoy along with Ron Whitfield made my recent trip to the islands a truly memorable adventure in paradise.
Something I learned about these steel players in Hawaii.........always cordial and happy and none of that "agressive competitive" nature that is often found in jams and events here on the mainland. Just fun to sit and play for hours. |

Thanks Bobby ... my babies got your email.
Ellie (4 yrs) has trouble with the whole "first name / last name" thing ... and some words are hard for her to pronounce ...
She was a 30 week "preemie" (2.5 months premature) ...
She meant to say "Thank you Bobby Ingano ... I love you" ... |

Jerry has often stated in regards to steel guitar players performing on stage: "You notice we are not selling toothpaste!" (This in referance to the usual grumpy faces most of us have while we concentrate on our left hand.) I think Bobby should be approached by the Colgate-Palmolive folks to promote their toothpaste as I have NEVER seen him playing steel without a huge smile on his face ! What a guy !!! |

It's likely because "he KNOWS SOMETHING" the rest of us have not yet caught on to.
Those beautiful Hula dancers in Hawaii have that same wonderful, warm, pleasant smile along with a special glint in their eyes so, they too, probably share that "inside knowledge" that we have yet to discover.
Com'on Jeff or Bobby, what's the inside scoop? |

The inside scoop is... you Play music. You don't work music.
Come on, think about it. When you go to see someone play on stage do you really want to see them struggling and having a hard time?

Very well put, Gerald!
I too have had the pleasure of seeing Bobby perform and his playing smile convinced me that he enjoyed playing steel guitar more than any performer I had ever witnessed. That's the way it ought to be! |
