What type of software these it take to put a short music clip on the Forum or the internet.
Appreciate any help.

If you have a Webhost who can support RealMedia files, that is the way to go. There is a free program called RealProducer on the RealNetworks site. You can convert existing audio files into RealMedia files, get them off a CD, or record them with a mic. This is a very simple solution and I would never go back to recording digital (PC) files any other way again.

Far better to try and find their page with the older encoders on it. New .rm files are not backwards compatible to anybody using an older version of Real Audio. The older .ra files will play on all Real Audio players, new or old.
