The Peavey Classic 30 amp has 3 12AX7 preamp tubes. I believe either V2 or V3 is for the overdrive circuit which I don't use. I'm pretty sure the Reverb circuit is not tube driven in this amp .
If you play the amp only in the clean mode, are the preamp tubes in the number 2 and 3 slots bypassed , or always engaged as part of the circuit leading to the power section ?

1/2 of V1 (V1A) provides the first gain stage for either a clean or overdriven signal. That signal is sent to two stages of V2 for overdrive/crunch sound. The selector relay chooses 1/2 of V1 for a clean sound or the overdriven stages (V1 to V2A to V2B) to send to 1/2 of V1 (V1B) for further amplification.

V3 is after the preamp amp output. It is the final amplification stages for the power tubes.

The reverb tank is driven and recovered by opamp stages. The final output of the IC is sent to a transistor and then to the reverb control pot.

Ken ;
Thanks for taking the time to fill me/us in . Sounds like all 3 preamp tubes are important whether you use the boost and overdrive circuits or not
