Can anyone recommend a good, economical place to have my CDs manufactured, printed, packaged and shrink-wrapped? I know there are a number of places that use CD-Rs but I'm more interested in regular CDs.

Jim, Disk Makers or Disc Masters is a local outfit, I think they moved to NJ a couple years ago.
I think Guitar Center or Music 123 also have a duplication division. |

| Thanks, Bo. I've used DiscMakers for 4 or 5 previous projects. They're usually pretty good (though I once made them throw away 1,000 discs and start over because they botched the printing job!) I'm looking for a smaller place that might also be less costly than DM. Thanks. |

Jimbeaux, we used Musicians Friend for one of our band projects. No complaints.
The CD's and printing was fine, it was the music on them that was questionable

| Tony, the M/F source is CD-R's, not fully manufactured CD's. As with any CD-R that is burned at a high speed (and what that company does from what I read) over about 8X (my standard) or 12X there is playability problems on some audio or car CD players. |

We had no problems with any of the MF CD's with playability.
I suspect that with todays technologies we have far surpassed any playability issues anyway.
A few years back, yes, there were issues.
Today, I don't think thats the case anymore.
My personal experience has me sending a couple hundred CDR's out each year all over the place, even overseas. Not one has been
returned because of playability. Can the issue exist ? Sure, but I think it's on the backside of the curve now.

Jim,
We,(Hillbilly Idol), have done three discs through Oasis. www.oasiscd.com The website has all of the templates for print and package options and they are really responsive to the DIY/indie folks. Printing has always been top notch, and we've given them some tough assignments. Good luck, there's always a million details to work out. |

My experience has been exactly opposite of Tony's. Where I regularly pick, we sell mostly to retiree's and they mostly do not have the "latest and greatest" equipment. We used to have a lot of problems with them returning CD's for various playability problems. Since we went to 8X as our standard burn speed we have not hace one complaint.
When we do the RV Park tours in the winter it's the same way - mostly retirees. |

Hey, Jim, run down to the local magazine rack and look in the back of anything like Mix, EQ, Recording, etc. There are tons of ads for various manufacturers, websites and 800 numbers. You should be able to get a ton of competing quotes in no time.

Jeff, does Dove do these smaller runs as CDs or CD-Rs? And do you have contact info?
