I had some struggles on Fri night with noise, single coil pickups. The guitar player let me try this device, it worked great. I will have one before the week is out. No need to get humbucking pickups with this baby.

The Decimator Pedal is extremely easy to use; simply insert the Decimator at the end of your chain of existing pedals or, insert the Decimator Pedal in the effects loop of your amplifier to clean up the noise present at the amplifier input as well as the noise in the amplifiers pre-amp section |
Nothing about quieting single-coil pickups. Please keep us posted as to how well your new unit works at quieting the noise produced by your single-coil pickup. I would rather purchase one of these units than replace my single-coil pickup for the occasional noisy venue.

My assessment, it works as advertised, just dial out the noise and it leaves you with a clean clear sound. I can keep my single coil edge and be as quite as a humbucking PU. Check it out.

It appears to be a one-knob noise gate with a fast-acting gate, to allow "staccato" notes as they say. It's hard to say how it compares to other single unit noise gates or the really adjustable rack units, because guitar magazines DON'T do comparisons of units sold by their various advertisers - gosh, why not? The Harmony Central kids seem to like them. (I can't get the link to shrink, though) [This message was edited by David Mason on 15 June 2006 at 03:58 AM.] |
