| i see a couple of evans amps for sale,one is an evans se,the other an fet.whats the difference? |

| To my knowledge, the FET 500 is an older model Evans. The SE 200 is the newer version. Someone correct me if I am mistaken. |

Hi Jim Bob.
You are right. The Evans Fet 500 Custom LV are older amps but are still the most sought after. They are heavier than the new models but have the Evans tone and power that the new SE models never quite duplicated.
If you get a FET 500 in good working and cosmetic condition, you will have a hard time ever parting with it.

| I purchased my FET 500 LV in 1991 and never looked back. It is the best transistor amp I have ever owned. I did change out the speaker to a Black Widow 1501-4. I just prefer that speaker over the imminence although the imminence is a fine speaker and can stand on its own merits. Thanks Darrell for making this fine amplifier. The control pots on the amp are getting scratchy though (too many outdoor gigs ) dust. Would it hurt to clean them with spray pot cleaner? | Try turning the pots back and forth several times , 25 or so if needed. That's all I have ever had to do to mine. If that doesn't lessen the static, then cleaning should work. A good quality tuner cleaner should work well unless someone can recommend a better product. |

Derrell built my FET-500 for me in 1985. It's a fantastic amp. After 20 plus years it's getting a little noisy, but the tone it produces is killer. The only equal I have used is the Fender Steel King.

I've been using Evans amps since I first used a Hybrid 300 that belonged to the engineer on a session I did in the early 80's. I promptly ordered two FET 500's,and never looked back.They both sound as good as ever, and are equipped with JBL's. they are the only transistor amp I've ever heard with the warmth of tubes. I recently purchased a Hybrid 300 to complete my atable.There really is no substitute.
