| It's probably a Canopus steel. I've seen Alan play a few times while I was in Hawaii, and he always used a Canopus. |

Who is playing the back-up steel? Or is it an overdub by Alan. Both musicians are great. Backup sounds like the Master of Touch and Tone....awwww...you know...JB.

Vic composed MY ORCHID LEI a number of years ago. Between the two of them (Vic and Nancy Rittenband), they have composed close to a hundred songs and have been promoting many of their better ones for years. Lately, Hawaiians have begun to realize many of the songs these two haole folks composed have a lot of substance to them and Islanders are putting them to disc. I have known N & V for some 20 years. Great people! If ever any of you venture to O'ahu, be sure to look them up....they love the steel guitar and are probably amongst the best promoters of the steel in Hawai'i today.
Alan was probably using the CANOPUS and he also did the overdub steel. As for the stuff by me, (Ray), forget it...just as well you can't hear it on that site. |

If George Keoki Lake and Jody Carver were both put in a sack and shaken up and down for an extended period of time, I can't even begin to guess who'd come out on the bottom.
Both of these fine steel guitarists work over-time in trying to convince everyone around the world, even their closest friends, what terrible players they are, etc.
Such a shame. Both are truly fine musicians and those of us want to get to know them better are have for long periods of time, been shunned and put to the side.
We know their good and that's why we ask to hear MORE of their work. So sad. They've both played music where many of us will never have such an opportunity to duplicate.
Come on George, place us a tune! |

RAY...Please don't put me in with Jody. He is so far superior to anything I could possibly do as to make me look absolutely rediculous. My admiration for Jody knows no bounds. As I have mentioned to many, I'm simply a "Jack-of-All, Master-of-None" which says it all.
I realize your intentions were good and I am sincerely flattered, however I qualify best to carry Jody's guitar to a gig which I would gladly do if only we lived closer to each other. |
