Please help! I can't get all this stuff hooked up. I'm trying to run my sound tracks and my steel through both of my Nashville 112's. I connected the mixers outputs, one to each amp. Here's where I think I'm goin wrong. I connected the left output of the CD player to line one of the mixer. Question, there are a left and right RCA connection at line 1 line 2 line 3 line 4 etc. Am I supposed to connect to both, right and left RCA imputs at each line?
Also, the mixer hadn't got a place for an Effects unit. I have a lexicon 110 I want to put in the mix also. I appreciate any help I can get on this. I'm supposed to play June 3, so I need to get this figured out soon.

Terry, that's a DJ mixer. It's not going to have the effects loop for running your processor and the channels don't have effects/aux sends and returns. |

So does that mean this mixer won't work for what I'm trying to do? If so, I have a 30 day return on it.
Michael, can you tell me what kind of mixer I need? Thanks

Terry,
I agree with Michael.
I can help with making all the connections, and can show you how to create an effects patch, however it may limit some of the other options you might require.
There are other mixers that will give you more flexability.
If you have all the correct cables, that little gemini can be connected to your amps in just a few minutes..... I'm reading another site aboout my vacation travels next week (Isle Mujeres), but would be happy to assist.

Oops, I didn’t read your first post!
Connect the steel to either the mic in of ch #1 or both left and right inputs of the line input… whichever sounds better to you…there will be a difference in gain/headroom.
Connect the cd left/right outputs to line in #2 left/right inputs.
For the Lexicon we’ll have to get a little creative: connect the lexicon left out to the left input only of ch #3. Connect the Lexicon right out to right input only of ch#4.
Set the Lexicon outputs for a “wet” signal out only. For the send: connect the headphone out to the Lexicon input(s). Depress the “cue” button on the steel channel ONLY. Set the little slider by the headphone out to “cue”. Use the “cue volume” to send the signal to the Lexicon inputs. The returns will be your faders ch #3 and #4. Adjust to taste to blend with the “dry” steel signal on ch#1.

I really appreciate it Steve. I'll try to hook it up that way and see how I come out.
I can get any cables I might need from our local music store. Thanks, and have a good vacation.

Well, still don't work. All I'm getting is the sound of my tracks through one amp. No steel sound at all. I guess what I need to do is take this whole mess up to our music store and get those guys to figure it out.
One has a studio so surely he could figure it out. Thanks guys.

Try this. Connect from each CD player output to each CD input on each Nashville 112. This will provide a signal from the CD player in order for the amplifier to reproduce the signal through both amps.
I'm not familiar with the Lexicon, but if it has left and right inputs as well as outputs, patch each of the outputs on the Lexicon to the POST EQ RETURN jacks of each amp, and patch the inputs of the Lexicon to the left and right POST EQ RETURN outputs of the Nashville 112's.
If your volume pedal has two outputs(like many Goodrich pedals), patch from each output into the input of the amps. This patch should eliminate the need of a mixer altogether.
Good Luck.

Mike, My Cd player only has an audio left and right.
It has a video line out and component video out. BTW- I have a CD/DVD player, not just a CD player. Maybe that's my problem?

I added confusion to the setup….I couldn’t tell what inputs/outputs are on the back panel and assumed each channel had a stereo phono input. Looks like each channel has a selectable input, hopefully stereo (ie: fader #2 selects between Line 2 and Line 3). So, on fader #2 plug your cd into the left and right inputs that associate with “line 3”. Place the bat handle switch in the “line 3”. It appears that you cannot use line 2 and line 3 simultaneously with this mixer. (Line 2 is a phono input and probably has a different eq curve, impedance suited for a phono). This should make your cd work and output to both amps if the outputs from the mixer are connected correctly.
The steel should work in fader 1…make sure the gain control is up a little…
Mike certainly knows much more about the 112 inputs and capabilities, however I think his method will rob you of a master volume control for you cd, which a mixer will provide. This master volume control can be a real advantage in a live performance situation. Otherwise, you would have to adjust the left amp cd volume, and then match it with another adjustment on the right amp cd input volume.
The Lexicon returns will be similar to to cd. Looks like fader 3 gives you the choice of selecting between line 4 and line 5 (with line 4 being another phono input). Hopefully line 5 will have a left rca in and a right rca in…..if so, this is where the return the Lexcon into the mixer.
Sorry about any frustration I may have caused you. If I wasn’t at work, I’d offer to help/frustrate you over the phone. I’m sure your local sales guy will get you up and running.
I still think Michael was right about the mixer being somewhat inappropriate for your needs.

Steve I appreciate your help more than you know, along with Michael and Mike's. I think ya'll are right, I just bought the wrong mixer. I was told I needed a 4 channel mixer, so that's what I got, not knowing it was not the kind I needed.. As you can tell, I don't know squat about this stuff. Thanks again.

One of the mixer's Steve recommended above was a Yamaha MG series. I just bought a MG10/2 and it will also do what you need for about a hundred bucks and is extremely low noise so it can be used later for recording or other purposes. It has insert effects for you effects box and all sorts of Phone, RCA , XLR I/O's. You can feed the Yamaha's stereo bus out to your 2 amps and have full independent control of the CD player and guitar levels.

Got it all hooked up Steve!I took my rack case with my mixer and effects unit in it, and my CD player to the music store, and Mr Manley had it hooked up in about 30 minutes. One of the cords that went from one amp into the mixer was bad and he had to replace it. I think that was the main problem. Anyway, thanks again to all who helped.
