Just got mine, and although I am awaiting the actual rack to put it in- WOW! Just straight in w/ the volume pedal hookup and silent tuner out (just lift the volume pedal)- one side into the power amp of the 112- a true rainbow of tones on both sides of the D10. Super hi-fi control of lows, mids, and treble, in a really neat interactive way. You could tweak all day, but it sounds exceptional with everything on 5 if that's what you want. No rocket surgery, no menus to scroll through- and lovely warm tube tone.

When it sounds this good mono and no verb/delay, you know it's gonna sound amazing in stereo w/light FX.

Thanks Brad- this is everything I hoped it would be!

John I agree entirely -- I picked up my 230v version from Brad in Dallas and it is outstanding. I played it for the first week just dry without any effects at all and couldn't believe how good it sounded, and your right about the ease of adjustment....it's great being able to tweak it on the fly.

Having it next to your seat makes tweaking as easy as with a Matchbox- just way more versatile.

Paddy, congrats on your son's safe arrival back home!

Hey John and all you guys, thanks so much for the great feedback. Yea, John I never used a rack rig until I got into this thing and I also discovered how nice it is to have all that control right there next to you while you play. Check out my latest rack. Here are some pic's of my older SKB rack and the newer rack from http://www.newyorkcasecompany.com http://www.zzounds.com/item--SKBR4

Both weigh about the same. Both racks have the TC M300 and a Korg rack tuner and the AC power and stereo outputs are mounted to the rack side so that you never need to open the back of the rack to set up. It's super-quick now to just put the rack down, plug in and go.

Brad ,
have you thought about a stripped down , 1U version of the Revelation ? Just the preamp with 1 input/1 output...

Olli. I pretty much made the leap from the Black Box to the Revelation Tube Pre trying to cover both ends of the spectrum. The SGBB is simply a tube buffer for those who want to keep their same rig, but also want to inject the tube sound into it. The Revelation is intended to (hopefully) be the ultimate solution for the complete steel rig. I found that with the design it was going to take too many compromises to sqeeze it all into a single rack space while also providing adequate ventilation. If I were to simplify the Rev Pre to make is a mono (single) output, it would still require the space of a 2-space rack unit.

I've found that with tube gear, it just takes up more space than transistor gear if you want to really do it right with the high voltage power supply, good ventilation, low noise floor, good layout, etc.
