I have a Line 6 Spyder amp with 75 watts and 1x12 speaker. I am a tube amp guy when it comes to guitar but I keep the Line 6 in the event one of my amps craps out (it has not happened yet) and sometimes, I'll run the Line 6 together with my Mesa Boogie Mark 3 with the delay pedal to get a fatter sound.
I really love the way this amp performs and it sounds very good for what it is. I also like to use this amp in practice so I can save my tubes for the gig.
I would have no problem using this amp in a gig by itself. However, I only use the "clean" channel, although it has many options from clean to very distorted and effects from reverb to echo and chours to flange.
I have played my steel through it too in a smaller venue and also at practice because its very light and pack a good sound.
A very nice amp for gigs, practice and as a backup. Would I want to give up my tube amps for it or my steel amps...no.
I got mine used in excellent condition for $200. This one sells new for $299 and list is much higher. I didn't go looking for a Line 6, but it came up for sale and at the time seemed like a good idea to purchase. It has been a great investment for me. |

not bad at all but .. not specificly good if you are a
"Tele" player. I Love the Vox Valvetronic 30 Watt
model for just great twang. It has a 10" speaker.
The model with 6o Watts and a 12 is more like a
true vox .. a bit more throaty. Just depends on
what sound your looking for. I use the flextone 3
with a 12 and a extention speaker for large outdoor
type gigs and that little vox for regular clubs but i
am a staight up " tele" twanger.

I was in a Guitar Center recently trying out guitar amps, as I want one for my Tele.
I tried two different Line 6 amps and neither one impressed me. I also tried some Fender's, a Crate and a couple Marshall's. The Marshall's were the only ones that I really liked (the clean channel). |

I've tried the Vox amp Scott talked about in his post as a friend of mine has one and it really sounded good at practice and in a live (mic'd) venue. Smartly priced too at around $170. His had the 12 inch speaker.
It really cut through.
This is all subjective anyway. I think the Vox and Marshalls are voiced for guitar where I thought the Line 6 could cover a little more ground in guitar selection meaning 6 string and pedal steel if needed to. |

I've been using a Flextone HD for almost 6 years for gigging and I like it fine. Not being a complete tone nazi, I can dial in some fairly good tones, mostly using the Deluxe Reverb model. I use a Tele with Barden pickups, and with the Bardens I think it would sound good through a car AM radio. The best thing for me is I have a channel devoted to fiddle, so I just stomp on the floorboard to get my fiddle channel. I would recommend them highly. Sound techs like them a lot too because you can get good sounds at low volumes.

Thats It that is why I own the flextone 3
I can use it with the steel and my tele
and get a passable tone from both instruments.
If I go to a small venue I just take the vox
for Tele and the NV 112 for steel. great
For larger gigs I like bigger stuff so I just
mix and match with the 100w all tube head and
a JBL d130 and the EV 12. The more diverse
styles of sound i am required to reproduce the
more types of amps I tote along.
