There was an 8 string dual pro that was relisted on ebay for $800. I was shocked to see it bid up to $920. I guess if you want something bad enough you will keep bidding.

Speaking as the owner of a '54 that cost me $70 (in 1972 w/ohsc), I'm not crying. Nor are my potential heirs.

Not out of line, IMHO. Look at it this way: is Leo Fender making any more Dual Pros? Will Leo Fender EVER make any more dual Pros?

Good point, Andy. How much would a 50s strat or tele go for? Fender steels are still pretty cheap in comparison.

I got my Dual Eight Pro. for $98 at a music store in Glendale, CA that was going out of business.

I would't take $2,000 for it now.

I paid $600 for my 1954 Dual Pro in near mint condition (only gigged with for 20 years by a little old great grandmother). In response to Dan's question about 50's Strats or Teles, a friend just sold a "closet classic" one owner '57 Strat for $13,000. The Dual Pro sure is a good deal compared to that.

I bought my first ’49-’50 Fender T–8 Custom that is now Black in a Pawn-Shop here in Nashville in ’79 for $150. I wouldn't part with it now! I made the mistake of selling it in ’89, but; I was also lucky enough to find it safe in my friends house for the past 14 yrs. back in ’03 and he sold it back at no increase in the price he had given me for it. (Still in the same condition) A true friend!

I just picked up a mid 50's Fender dual pro with tweed case and matching Fender amp for $35.00. This little prize was from a friend of the family's that passed away. The widow was having a garage sale and I seen it in the corner. The condition is perfect with the exception of one pick-up that is in for repair.

I always heard about things like this happening but never thought it would happen to me.

Gosh, I paid $75 for my '48 Dual Pro in 1983, and I didn't even get a free amp with it . .

I would never sell it, not for any price. Like Andy says, Leo doesn't make them any more. If the prices of vintage steels were comparable to the prices of vintage guitars, any Dual Pro would be worth at least $20,000

They seem to go for $600 to $1,000. It's not like he got ripped of, he just payed the premium price is all. People regularly pay $1,200 for Stringmasters, and I'd rather have a Dual Pro. I payed $700 for mine, all original. I met a guy who paid $1,200 for one. I thought that was pretty steep.

A 1953 Fender Custom went for $1,800 "Buy It Now" on Ebay once, but the buyer had bought a slew of instruments from that same year. Must of been the year he was born.

Looks like the buyer got what he wanted. IMHO, that is in the ballpark for a good one.
