Leon, I am certainly not Mike Brown, but the amp will handle it just fine. The problem is the speaker cone will likely be damaged. Not sure which speaker you have, but the 1502 speaker will handle a bit more than the 1501 due to the thickness of the cone. But because of the open back design of the cabinet, it will allow too much movement of the cone and eventually cause damage. Porbably low volume levels would not harm it, but it's still a risky chance. Running the amp head into a seperate closed bass cabinet will work just fine though.

I get this question fairly often. Any amp will handle any musical instrument signal for a certain length of time. But, the negatives are that the equalization may or may not be to your liking and certain speakers and cabinets may or may not endure the punishment if it is not used for what it was designed to be used for. Nuf said.

For gigging...get a bass amp! Open-backed amps sound pretty lousy when used for bass guitar, but they'll suffice for low-volume (practice) work.

I would like to add ...... If you play bass through that amp,it will,in time, soften the speaker cone and the amp will lose some of its "brilliance". You may not like the tone for guitar after that. Been there, done that. ...........JD

Even at low practice volumes, playing bass through the open back cab of a NV400 can blow the speaker. Been there, done that. Heed the above advice.

I once used my Session 400 (just the brain) as a bass amp driving one 15" speaker in a closed back cabinet when my regular rig was being serviced..it worked and sounded fine, but it was VERY warm (probably on the verge of thermal shutdown) by the end of the gig.
