Hi Fellow steel pickers, I just joined the forum today though I have been an avid reader for sometime. What I need to know is, I recently purchased a used Nashville 400 with the silver corner caps (new condition) to replace my Vegas 400 that I bought in 1987, but was recently burned in a serious house fire together with my prized 1974 Sho-Bud Pro 2 Universal, and sadly one of my poor dogs too.I gather from reading the forum, that the silver capped ones with the ribbed speaker has in fact a 1502 Black widow. It sounds sweet, as I had used a Nashville 400 in 1984 when I worked in the States.The person I bought the Nashville from was not the original owner, and I was wondering if some mods may have been done to the amp, as the bass response is much better than I had on my Vegas 400. I also have a Nashville 112 but personally I prefer the 15 inch Black widow behind me. There is a good guy with knowledge and a good source of maple wood who is soon going to ressurect my Sho-Bud here in England.I would like to hear from some of you guys about my Nashville 400, I also wish you all a very happy Christmas and a healthy new year.

Hello Micky,
Thanks for your support of Peavey products. It is difficult to determine if your Nashville has our mod kit involved without having the serial number. We began installing our modification kit from the factory back in the mid-90's. All amps with a serial number above 08575482 were shipped from the factory with the mod installed. Numbers prior to the above might have the kit installed, but it would have had to been installed by and independant technician.

Here is a link from our website describing the Nashville 400 mod kit;

If you have further questions about Peavey products, I will be glad to assist you.

The Nashville 400 is an excellent amp and, with chaps like Mike around, we Peavey owners have a leg up.

The BUD BURNED ?????!!!!!!!?????
That's horrible, Micky
I just adopted one myself very similar to yours, but a few years newer. I thought about you when I got mine. Sho-Bud 12 strings are pretty rare. I had the entire undercarriage redone by John Coop -- new changer and all new parts. I feel your pain.

I'm so sorry to hear of your misfortune. It is good news that someone on your side of the pond can resurrect her. Amps are a shame to lose, but your guitar is an extension of your arm. (sorry about your dog)

Glad to hear you are well, my friend, and WELCOME TO THE FORUM!

Hi Larry,good to hear from you.Yes the Bud was burned, but the mechanics still work. The Guy Dave Langdon over here builds some amazeing steels for himself. He'll certainly fix her up well, I'll send you the pictures of the burned Bud soon.Have yourself a great Christmas. I managed to get a copy of your CD, via Alison Green over here, whom I put on to you...great playing. Guess I don't have to divulge the handshake to you mate....take care Smile

Micky - welcome to the Forum mate. The Nashville 400? My favourite of all of the Peavey steel amps whether modded or not. I was gutted for you when I saw your Sho-Bud. I love the ShoBud / NV 400 combination. I've had my NV for 25 years and it hasn't let me down once. I just replaced the Black Widow speaker and she sounds as sweet as ever.

Have a great Xmas.

Ken

The difference in the Bass response of your Nashville 400 MAY be because the 1502 BW is voiced for Bass Guitar. You may have had a 1501 BW in your Vegas 400, which is voiced for Steel Guitar/Electric Guitar. Both are good speakers and both are used by Steel Players.

Hey Brother Micky, welcome to the Forum it's always good to have another steeler on the Forum who's been "Brought to Light". If any of you want to see what Micky looks like go to the Steel Guitarists of Hampton Roads website which is: www.evertize.com/sutphin This site was made for Southern Va/North Carolina steelers but Micky fits right in with us....JH in Va.

Hi Ken,Brother Jerry (thanks for putting my picture in), Mike Brown and Roger. Thank you for your comments. Roger my Vegas 400 had a 1502, because that was the only thing I had to replace after I blew a speaker after many many years of trouble free use. I replaced it with a 1501 not realiseing that it did in fact have a 1502 until I fitted the new basket.I personally can't tell the difference, as we all get used to a sound and tweak our controls to what we want to hear. Mike Brown, I have used Peavey amps since they first came to England in the mid seventies, starting with the 1st Session 400,then on to the smaller cabinet Session 500, and on to the Vegas until the house fire disaster. As you know I have the Nashville 400 now and a Nashville 112. I used to be on another famouse brand beginning with "F" until I, as so many steel players realised that Peavey were promoting an amp just for our needs.
