I sent in my five dollars, so I am a lurker no more. Been playing lap steel for almost two years. actually, this month is my aniversary. I've been playing guitar since 1965. my two lap steels are a 1939 Epiphone Century and a 1940 Epiphone Zephyr. both these guitars are great. besides the nice stylings they sound good. the Zephyr had a pickup rebuild by Lindy Fralin; that guitar really has the output and sweet tone. early this year I bought a 1974 SHO-Bud. (900$ a steal)it has been around for sometime; cigarette burns on the case and dimples everywhere . couldn't figure out what they were until I dropped my slide. ahah! Havent spent much time on the pedal; it needs a proper setup (the knee levers are lowering the notes). there is a great player in my town that said he'd be glad to help me. I plan on taking him up on that. I love steel playing. spent alot of time with open E on lap. last week I tuned to C6 and am having a ball. I can't get enough of it. my now deceased dad always wanted me to play steel cowboy music. that's how he phrased it. I hope besides my five bucks that my two cents will be of use here. I am in awe of All you steel player greats.

Welcome Randy. I haven't been here that long myself but I can assure you that it's the best deal in town. Ha, I just noticed that you're from Mpls. I'm in the southeast supburbs. Where are you?
