Since the owners won't be able to enjoy the "un-veilin' at Joliet" ... I thought I'd show 'em here first.

Just finished an hour ago ...

Here's # 001 ... Owner: Jim Landers ... A6 Tunin' ...

Here's # 002 ... owner: Orley Allen ... Low G tunin' ...

Here's # 003 ... owner: Mike Neer ... C#m Tunin ...

"My Celebrity Endorser" !!!

Paua Abalone fret markers set in black polymer ...

Black polymer fretlines ...

Lacquered fretboard ...

Cast aluminum "octagonal knobs" featuring paua abalone sets ... lacquered

The aluminum will oxidize to a "flat gray finish" ... the lacquered parts will stay shiney.

1 meg audio taper volumes and tones.

0.047 mfd capacitor for tones.

530 gauss neodymium "H-Shoes" ... nickel plated and lacqured.

Grover "mini Rotomatics" ...

Solid pickup mount ... no springs ... spent two days tweaking the height.

Black polymer linen back plate ...

I hate for them to go ... but at least I get to spend a long weekend with them ...

Bring on those McIntire A25s ... ha, ha

Is the owner of steel #2 the same Orley Allen that played bass in the Herb Steiner/Melissa Miller Band back in the late 1980's?

I'm licking my chops, man. They look fantastic. I know the incredible amount of time Rick put into these, and I will most definitely enjoy the fruits of your labor.

In the meantime, let the guys in Joliet play her--they will only grow more envious after they do.

Dammit all...why do you do this to us ? It is just plain torture to see those beautiful creations and not be able to reach out and play one ! They must have one helluva great sound !!!

Congratulations. Your name will someday go down in steel guitar history along side of Adolph Rickenbacher.

Wow, Rick. Those look great! I'm curious about why you listed the tunings. Is there something diferent about eash one? Are you going to make 7 or 8 string models?

Thanks y'all, for the kind words ... gettin' ready to leave for Dulles. They are packed snuggly into custom SKB cases for the trip.

Herb ... I believe Orley is from your neck-o-the-woods ??? ... http://www.orleyallen.com/

Dan ... # 001 is a 7 stringer (I gotta get a better camera)

No real reason for givin' the tunins' ... just thought it was interesting to see what they were slappin' on ...

In Joliet , I'm playin Mike's ... tuned to C6/A7 (w/ flatwounds) ... Jim's will have A6/B11 ... and Orley's will be E maj/C#m ... for folks to enjoy ... (w/ semi-flats).

Gotta "fly"

PS There are already plans/steps taken to pour a 25" scale Dustan ... and a "wide neck" version .. for 8 to 10 strings.

Hi, Rick.

MAN! Those make a guy want to slobber! Which of your super heated pickups are you using...or are there options?

Hope you have a great time in Joliet. Would love to be there and here you play those babies.
