I've had BIAB for quite a while but have just now started trying to use it. Seems like every style I try has that irritating @#^%$(&*^ funky keyboard sound,,,,even the bass line has a funk feel on most of the country styles. I don't really think Hank (Sr. not Jr.) intended for "Take These Chains" to have a funky bass working in the background. How can I build a tract with just drums, bass and rythm guitar, NO lead (that's me)?

Just click on the circle to the left of where the instruments are listed on top of the screen. That will delete that instrument from the mix. As far as "funky" sounds go, if you pull down the menu for the different instruments, you have an extensive list of the different types of instruments. There are several different keyboards available for the choosing. And as far as bass goes, there is electric bass, stand up string bass, etc., etc.
What kind of sound card does your computer have? That makes a difference in how it's going to sound. BIAB will only sound as good as what the MIDI is being played through.

Thanks all who responded. After I made my initial post I sat down and did some serious "playing" with the program and figured out a few things,,,,"if all else fails, read the directions",,,. Now another question. Can Power Tracks be used to record to Computer (C drive) then burn CD from there? I'm talking just a simple little practice track. Is there a site where we can share with each other what we've created?

Kevin-I got Big Jim Baron's 2 cd's of files long ago, but only could load one CD. His CD"s have been a big help to me.

But there is plenty of songs on it and makes it easy to use.
If I want to change a chord or two here and there, that's better than doing the whole song.

George Wixon's Website has pleanty of Help on BIAB recording. Really Great.

I like the melodies with it, then I can always mute it when I want to play along with it.....al

Good idea Al. Something I've done for years, click on Melody at the top, and mute melody during middle choruses. It's a good way to learn songs, let the file play it thru once, then play along in the middle. You can set the number of choruses to as many as you want. Pardon me if every one already knew that.

You can temporarily remove any instrument from the biab style by right-clicking on the instrument at the top of the page.

One of the best and easiest to use pieces of equipment is the Edirol SD-20 sound canvas. Makes biab sound really good. It can be bought online at pgmusic.com . I really like the volume knob on it so once it goes through into your stereo speakers you can simply turn the volume up and down with a good ol fashion knob.

Most styles have "rhodes electric" as the default keyboard sound, which is terrible. I think "Acoustic Piano" is the most natural sounding option. "Bright Piano" is OK.

I usually mute the guitar track or change it to "bright piano."

It would be great if the rest of the styles could sound as nice and natural as "Jazz Trio."

I bought the latest version, BIAB 2005. Are there any upgrade packages which have new instrument sounds ?
