I could sure use some help from anyone out there that's used or is using a digital recorder. I am looking to buy a good 24 track digital recorder and would like to know if anyone out there has experience with one of these and what the best model/make would be for a good 24 track digital, either tascam or roland or whatever is the best and if you know of one that's used in really good shape I would like to know about that too. Any help would sure be appreciated very much.
Thank You

You question to far too general, but I'll try...

I really like my 2488.
I started digital recording on a Tascam 788.
It's an 8 track machine, so I moved up to the 24 track 2488.

I never had a Roland so I can't compare. I understand the logic of the Tascam units so moving up was easy.

When you're new to digital recording, there is a steep learning curve. Be prepared to spend a lot of time learning it, similar to learning an instrument.

Some very helpful Forums for Tascam units are: http://www.tascam2488.com/

A friend of mine, an older fellow who has very limited digital knowledge bought a 2488 and loves it. He says it works just like his old analog stuff. He did a whole CD project on it and it sounds great.

We use an Akai DPS24. I don't run it, but my guitarist does and loves it. He did some serious A+Bing between that and the Roland and the Akai seemed to offer a lot bigger bang for the buck.

For me, I'll keep rollin' tape.
