Any advice on putting a pickup on my all-metal dobro (well, not the neck!). Most "acoustic" jams/open mikes I've been going to lately seem to be full of amplified acoustics. In a noisy bar or coffee house, that seems arguably appropriate, so I'm thinking of acting in self defense. Futzing around while we get a mike on the guitar sometimes takes a while, and I tend to thrash around a bit trying to hit the right note. :-)
Looked for a thread on the topic, but there's so much darned info on the site that I gave up. If this has been much discussed, just point me to the thread.
Thanks,

Hi John,
Did you do a search using the terms
"resophonic pickup" ?
I tried that and it looked like it uncovered a whole batch of great threads discussing your question. None were specifically for metal body. Is that what you were looking for? (I think the pickups would be the same for each, since most of them are not magnetic).

Of course. Didn't look around enough for the search feature. And I'm in the business
Lots of good info in those threads.
Thanks.

The Lace Sensor pickup is GREAT. I have had absolutely no problems with it and it sounds like it would be good for the situation you describe. |
