Any of you folk use a Moss Valve rack mount
Preamp? If so, please give me some of its
good features such as Highs and Lows, etc.
Are they good to go with a Power amp and
separate effects unit?
thanks in advance,
Jim

The Tubeworks preamps don't have reverb built in, so add that if you want it.
It's gonna sound a little sterile without it.
Adding a wee bit of delay might be another thing to consider.
The 'steel guitar' modification by TW is desirable if you want a really clean sound.
In the end you'll likely have a unit that's bright and crisp, IMHO.
Herby Wallace is one person who could really dial you in on this if you contact him.

The preamps have an effects loop that will work with line level or instrument level units.

One caution, only one model, the last model which was built by Genz Benz, can be modified and it has to be done by the factory, they won't release the mod info.

I had one of the original models (same color scheme as my MV 500 Power amp) and it was not eligible for the mod. They gave me a story about missing documentation when they bought the company but I suspect they wouldn't mod them as they wanted me to buy a new one with the factory mod (they were still being built when I had mine).

If you can pick up a Tube Works "Blue Tube II", with or without the mod, then add in their 12 spring reverb, you'll have as good a sound as you'll ever find. I have that in my rack unit together with a Lexicon 200 for a tad bit of delay and chorus. Their MosValve amps are great too, I also include that in the mix.
