I rebuilt a Sho-Bud Pro 1 after a drunk made a right mess of it at a gig I did. It sounded great after the re-build except strings 1,3, and 4had this really bad buzzing sound, I tried everything to get rid of it without success, in the end I sold it and bought a D10 Carter and I couldn't believe that I had the same problem. Well a friends of mine was having a problem with his equipment and asked me to check it out so I did and plugged his RCF speaker into my
amp and guess what, my guitar was as sweet as a nut. This was a 300watt speaker shallow basket, the speaker in my amp is an Eminence
goodness knows what! Question:- Does a speaker really make that much difference, if so why only strings 1.3,and 4, why not string 2?

Dave, I guess it's because resonant frequencies are fairly discrete (but I didn't know it was that discrete). I can imagine that the part of the cone that goes around the voice coil is slightly misaligned, and certain high frequencies drive it batty.
Hope you like your new steel. |

I had a Peavey Duece, with two 12" eminence speakers in it... put a 15" BW, and man what a difference... used the eminence speakers for small monitors... they worked OK for that...your mileage may vary, but give me a BW 15, or two 12" EV SROs.... this may be the reason I haven't tried a Steel King yet.
I also really love lifting (and carrying) very heavey amps (:>)>=[

I have a Blackface Showman. It's great, except when you play an F# on the 6th string on guitar. Then it rattles. So,,,,I guess a speaker problem can be pretty note specific. JB |

Eminence is ubiquitous only because they will provide manufacturers with the cheapest OEM speakers available. They are neither efficient or high-fidelity products. Try any of the speakers mentioned thorughout the forum and you will get an instant and radical upgrade to your rig, guaranteed. |
