Looking for a speaker (12" or 15") with a very smooth upper end and tight/hard low end with a present clear midrange. This is really anal stuff I know but that is what keeps my insterest up, finding the elusive sound.

Chrome domes vs cloth, JBL vs PV, EVL and Emminence, open back vs closed back ported, SS vs tube amps, PP vs all the rest, wow not an easy path to follow.

I tried a Fender RI with 2 12" cloth dome speakers. Tons of personality but I was conserned about the lack of hardness in the low end. I am thinking 2 chrome domes would be harsh in the high end and tight in the lows but that only meets one of the above criteria.

Tried a Fender RI with a single 15 "chrome dome, treble OFF, brigh switch OFF and had to leave the room due to so many highs.

I am looking for a more open breathing sound with loads of character with the above speaker characteristics.

Next. (this should be fun )
