| I'm going to do a little work on a couple of cheap six-string guitars. What's the usual grade of wire to use to wire pickups, pots, jacks and switches? And, I have an bolt-neck Ibanez with lacquer bumps in the neck pocket. I want to sand it flat for a better fit. What could I seal the wood with afterwards? |

Anything from 20 to 24 gauge stranded hookup wire seems to be normal.
Some thinned lacquer or polyurethane would probably be fine for the neck pocket. |

David,
What I have found that works good for sealing up the wood is clear lacquer in a spray can from Wal Mart. If you really want to get fancy use a sanding sealer prior to the lacquer.  |
