| I have. I bought a used Tubefex earlier this year, and it worked great until last month when it developed a nasty sounding distorted overtone. I performed the recommended reset procedure, but the problem did not resolve. I sent the unit back to Peavey for repair, and the service tech called me to give me the bad news that the unit is "unrepairable". Apparently there is an "analog to digital" board that was specially manufactured for this unit, and none are available. Unless I can get this board somewhere and have it installed, I'm out of luck. Anybody out there have this problem or have suggestions for replacement of the board? |

There are very few parts available for the Tubefex and Transtube Fex. I had a problem with my Transtube Fex and Peavey didn't have the main board. Out of Outstanding customer service, Mike Brown went overboard and replaced the main board with the one from his "test lab" unit.
Your only hope, as Peavey told you, is to find one that is "trashed" and hope that board is good. The Analog to Digital board converts the analog input into digital for use inside the unit.
Check with Ken Fox, since he comes up with a lot of these units, repairs/modifies them and resells them. Maybe he has or will get one that is "not repairable" but the A/D board is still good. |

Unfortunately, some parts become obsolete over a period time. It's been several years since we have manufactured the Tubefex unit and our supplier for certain parts do not offer the part any longer because they do not sell enough of them to make a profit. If they do have them, the price goes up as demand goes down.
In most situations, we can repair one of our products even if they are 20 years old, but there are those that become obsolete. One thing that we see often in processors is battery leakage which can contaminate a circuit board and become impossible to repair. Be sure that you inspect for this about every two to three years.

| I've seen equipment advertised on e-bay that will state it's "not working", etc. Keep an eye out and maybe a Tubefex will show up. I wouldn't pay much for it, but it's worth a chance that the board you need is OK in the "not working" unit. |
