OK so I was looking at getting a vox ac50 head. I have a speaker cab w/ a jbl k120 in it. Will that be enough of a box to play threw or will i be better of with 2 12s? I will be using it at church and small shows like coffee shops an such. The last question is this I read once that vox's had there own style of speaker connection not a 1/4" jack is this true?

Larry, My friend, I have a Vox Cambridge 1961 year and it has standard 1/4 inch jacks, 10" bulldog cellestion speaker and it is as crisp as this new Peavey 112 Not near as much sustain though. Ray

An AC-50 with a single 12" JBL should be plenty for small gigs. If you go with a 2 X 12" box, save up for a couple of Vox Celestion "Blue" speakers or Weber Blue Dog's to bring out the best with that Vox.
I saw the Canadian band Blue Rodeo a couple of years ago and the steel player used an AC-30 with a road case cover gaffed to the back making it a closed back cab. I'd never heard anyone use a Vox for PSG before, but it sounded good. |
