So, last night, I picked up a new '59 Bassman LTD re-issue. This amp had some upgrades over the old RI Bassman. It had USA made Groove tubes, Laquered Tweed Cabinet made of solid finger jointed pine, and new Jensen RI Alnico speakers (4X10)
The LTD came out in 2004 I think.

So I took it home last night, plugged my Mulled D-10 into it, and was blown away. (I normally use a 135W Ultralinear Vibrosonic Reverb w/ an Eminence speaker, which is freshly gone thru and sounding great. )

This Amp sound great, and it handles the lows from the C6th neck with power and clarity. I must say it sounds better than the Vibrosonic Reverb. Of course, it's only 45-50W, but I use it in my house, and it's nice and clear. I'm sure it wouldn't have enough power for anything more than a small bar, but Goddamn! does it sound good. The 4x10 set-up provides a bit of a natural chorus effect, esp. when compared to the singe 15" in the SFVR. I've onlyplayed it for a few hours, I'm gonna go AB the two and really give it a workout, I'll check back. Does anyone have any experience with one of these bad boys? I'd like to hear about them

I just bought the old version myself. I have not played out yet, so I use it for practice at home and for the guitar. I have waited for the right deal on this amp for a while and it was well worth the wait.

Mike, I agree with you about the sound of the Bassman Amplifier. I use a 1973 Fender Bassman 50 with my BW 1501-4 Peavey Speaker Cabinet and it is very clean and loud! I can use it at most of the places I play. Here is a picture of my Bassman 50. Not bad for a 32 year old Amplifier.

I have one of these (stock Bassman LTD) that I use with my Stringmaster. Great naturally warm tone- beat out a lot of amps with 15's in them.
