You guys that own Music Mans, how do you Identify the precise model and year on it? The unit I have doesn't say a model name anywhere. It says it's 65 watts, it's got 2 10" speakers
and a pair of matched Groove Tubes GT6L6s. I assume these were put in much later...

From the little I've seen here on the forum, the tubes probably work the power stage, as opposed to the pre... I've been unable to find a good resource for Music Man amps discussion and the like, so I wouldn't know for sure...

(correction that's 2 10 inch speakers)

You are correct the 6L6 tubes are for the power section. A few models also may have used a 12AX7 series tube in the preamp section as well.

My teo amps are stamped with the model number in the same way the serial number is stamped. I can't help you on dating.

The amps with the 12AX7 tube are the earlier models, made in the 70s. This is not actually a preamp tube - it's a power tube "booster". The preamp section is solid state.
The later 80s models did not have the 12AX7.
