Larry, have you heard of any Matchbro's kicking around for sale? I'm tired of fighting with my dobro live. |

Marvin Fluger of Fluger Hollowneck resonators makes them now. They clip to the leg of the steel guitar. 716-604-5236. He also makes the Cat Can in conjunction with Duane Marrs which now has the simulator circuit right in the guitar with tone, timbre, and volume. It sits right on top of the steel and has a felt pad under it. He also makes an electric/acoustic dobro with NO feed back. It looks like a dobro but has no resonator cone in it. It sounds exactly like a dobro plugged in. Gary Morse uses one with Dierks Bentley. I think that he will be on the ACM awards playing one next week. |

The "supermatchbro" was supposed to have a more realistic sound (main feature). However, I compared my original model with the super matchbro and couldnt tell any difference, using my steel and amp, same cables, etc.
There are some other differences, my old original model Matchbro has a matchbox and tone control in the bypass position. The super matchbro does not have that and the effect on/off switch is also a complete bypass of the matchbro (something I need to install on my original model). The original model would run on (2) 9V batteries, the super model uses the AC power supply only.
My own personal opinion, they had the original MatchBro, the MatchBro II which was fixed - not adjustable and then the Super MatchBro which again had the adjustments for the dobro effect. Looks to me like they just went back to the adjustable controls on the Super MatchBro.
I'm not sure the real reason Goodrich discontinued it, but to me it got to the point it was "priced more than the market could bear". Realistically priced and it would sell a lot more. |

John Lacey I do not know of any at this time, I currently use a patch (I created) in my Boss VF-1, for a song or two it is OK. I am a Dobro player first and a steel player second, after you have played a real Dobro (Sheerhorn) the electronic simulations leave a lot to be desired.
Jack thanks for the breakdown on the different models.

The "Super-Bro" is a winner! If you can find one...buy it! It goes into a pac-seat a lot easier than a dobro!
