I recieved my new BlackBox over the weekend. WOW! What an incredible difference and improvement to my tone. The BlackBox smoothed out my tone while giving it more depth and a bigger dimension.I can't imagine playing without it now. I really believe in this product.

Hello Tommy. Wait 'till you record with it! And if you're in a studio where you have to record direct, it will make your day.

I`ve had mine for about 9 months now and I won`t play without it.
I really belive in it. It is no gimmick or effect - it`s just basic amplifier construction, so to speak, and thats why it works for the better.

IMHO this is the best steelguitar product to come along in maybe over 30 years.

Pardon my ignorance, but what is a Black Box? I've seen it mentioned before but never quite understood what it does,- is it some sort of preamp/compressor?

I ain't believing ANYTHING can improve Tommy White's tone. Do you use anything else with the black box? If the black box can improve on your perfect tone then I got to have one. Maybe I need one instead of the POD xt. Tommy, you have a fan for life (me). Thanks

I've been wanting one of these for a while now but I can't bring myself to buy something that has to sit on the floor by me. Things are too cluttered around me as it is. Can you rack mount the Black Box?

Brad,
You are very welcome. Thank you for such a great product!
Gaylon,
I would wear it in my hat to have the tone of the Black Box. It is like hearing fm radio for the first time after listening to an unclear channel on an a.m. pocket radio.
Gere,
Thank you very much. I most often use a Boss DD2 foot stomper delay. However, the Black Box is such a rich, pleasant tone, I did not feel the need to use any delay this weekend at the Opry. Just the Box and a little amp reverb put a smile on my chubby face.
Thanks again and my best,
T.W.

Since I don't use 19" rack EFX now - I took an old sewing machine box and created a 'tall pedal board'. Basically the lid sits up high enough I can touch pedals without bending over. It's wide enough for my Black Box, Peterson VSII tuner, a powerstrip, and a few Boss pedals. But small enough that I can sit it right next to me, plug in the Hilton into the power strip. Everything else is permanently plugged in. All the signal cables are in place to make connections so setup is quick. I'll try and put a pic up sometime soon - it works for me. Plus the case stores my Hilton and some other stuff I usually haul that won't fit in the pacrat seat.

Gee...I guess the word is really out now! I really love the BB. You go Brad. Brad is really particular about the quality. I carried my Black Box all the way to Dallas where Brad upgraded a small part at the show. He and his wife are really special people. I always enjoy chatting with them, I bet they'd be fun to party with too! Airport security didn't say much about it going there but checked it on the way out. Can an X-ray machine look through a black box? I don't think it could hurt one though. It's working fine, very fine. Since I've gotten it I have personally gotten more comments about how "sweet" my tone is from other musician as well as not players very regularly.

Since coming home from Dallas I have used the SGBB every night at home for practise and had it out last Friday on a gig.
I honestly cannot find the words to describe the difference in my tone and believe it or not I am actually playing better than ever.
The Black box will soon become a standard piece of equipment. No Steeler should be without one.
It is also nice to know you are purchasing from a nice couple(Brad and Auset)
Thanks again
Billy

...sounds like it's designed to optimize a solid state power amp...what's it do if you're already playing through a Hilton pedal which has impedance matching, into a tube amp such as a Fender Vibrosonic?...

I borrowed one from Pete Burak, HAD to have one before my next gig, have not played without it since. With my setup it gives me such clarity in the upper midrange. Like TW I am using less effects all of the time as I am in love with my PP sound all over again. Thanks a million Brad.

Verrry Interesting question. What does the BB do (i.e. do to the perceived sound quality) in an amp that already has a nice pair if 6L6's (or equiv) in the tube output circuits anyway. Is the result then BB^2? (as in Black Box Squared)?
