What amp model and cab model would be good to put in the mix for a Strat, to give a good country guitar tone? Somethin similar to Don Rich's Tele tone is what I'd like. anybody know what amp he used? or any of the other great country guitar pickers?
would you use any effects, to get a good tone? compression, delay? I just need some help gettin started.

There's a "Brad Paisley" program that you can download from the Line 6 site (with the Line 6 Edit program). It works great with my Tele and Nashville 1000, except I turn off the compressor.

most of these programs are made to run direct into a board or a pa, that is the main reason for modeling different preamps and speaker cabs. I am not familiar with the 1000 but I would think you could bypass the pre amp and go right to the power amp which is what I would do, The black face deluxe or twin would be a good pre amp to start with, I know people that have gotten good results with the bassmen and the line 6 clean. I would use a little compression. I think the Brad Paisley sound may break up a little to much for what you say you are wanting. There are a lot of good pre sets available on the line 6 site. You may have to tweek the sounds to what you want but they will get you going in the right direction. Hope this helps some Jeff

Terry,
I've gotten a decent "Tele" sound out of a Strat using the "Start Me Up" preset and the bridge pickup. Try that and tweak the tone and drive controls to your liking. I'm not much of a six-string tone hound, but I do know that only a Tele will really sound like a Tele...

Thanks for your help guys. I'll try ya'lls advice.
I like Brad Paisly's sound, but
I'm not sure I know how to download stuff off of line 6. That's somethin else I gotta learn.

I've read in a guitar mag somewhere that Brad plays thru a Vox AC-30 TB. I use that model on my POD PRO alot. That model will clip a great deal if you push the gain; but it has great, spongy dynamics that clean up when you turn the guitar down/ bite when you snap the strings.

I can verify that Paisley does (or did) play through VOX AC-30s. Opened for him about 4 years ago. For some reason I think he's using Riveras now (probably an endorsement). I've always used the AC-30 models for my tele sounds, a la, Paisley or Keith Urban. It does have a little more edge than the old Twin.

For a more traditional tele sound though, I'd go with a Twin model, maybe the Delux, with a little slap back delay and some verb.

Also, whenever I've wanted more of a "Tele" tone out of a Strat, it always seems like I roll a little treble off on the guitar.

Terry, one more thing. I think one of the presets on the PODxt is called "Sultans of Swing" That's a really good tone for a strat. At least a good starting point for you.

Thanks Ben, I hadn't seen that preset on the screen yet, maybe I've just overlooked it.

hey Tim,

Better go check out the Guitar rack the HOUSE sound guy uses for Brad Paisley....
There is one if not TWO POD Pro's in that rack. Most of what you hear LIVE are those Rack mount PODs.

He does have Dr. Z and Vox AC 30's on stage...but the POD PRO units are set for the VOX AC 30 sound as well.

I have seen him in concert and talked to the sound tech.

Woah! Brad didn't play like that the one time I saw him on CMT. That's WAaAAY to wild for me. If that's the way Brad plays, then I don't won't to sound like Brad.
I thought he played more traditional type country guitar. That's not for me.
