Yeah, I've got both amps. If you like the
tone of Fender in general, but want it with
a higher wattage than their tube amps, then
the Steel-King is the way to go.
The Webb has more upper mids (mainly due to
the E-130 speaker) and a bit less high end
crispness. The EQ controls on the Fender
actually affect the tone more than the Webb.
They're both great amps really. |

Hi! Steve:
I have both of these amps. I find the Fender Steel King to be a good sounding amp for the money. To me the steel King is a brighter sounding amp with a bit of edge to it. My Webb sounds a bit smoother and sweeter with more presence. After several A-B comparison tests, I have deceided to keep the Webb and perhaps sell the Steel King. The choice was tough to make. They both have their strong points. I find the Webb suits my style. Consider that the Webb cost $1050 more the the Steel King. |
