Paul...it sure appears to me to be a repair job. I have never seen a Fender with a piece of metal screwed on like that. Personally, I'd stay away from it no matter the price. |

Thanks, George. I was tempted for a minute or two... That same seller is selling the mating amp for $3100 !?! Go figure.

If you examine the picture of the small plate attached to the back of the headstock real close, it appears to contain (12) same size nails by which the fretboard is attached, ‘not screws’!

They look like brass slot-head screws to me. The heads are almost as big as the slot-head screws attaching the tuning keys. They are definitely bigger than the nail heads holding the fretboard on. |

I submitted my thoughts about the plate on the back of the head-stock a day or two ago, but; like so often happens, again; my Reply doesn't get Posted, so; I'll just pass! |

Well, sorry! I guess I should have passed on my (complaint), instead! I do put my foot in my mouth, every once in a while; just to stay in practice! |

If you read the entire description by the seller, he does state that the guitar has had what appears to be a "head crack" repair, he attributes to Leo using green wood in a few of the first ones. |

Bill-
You're right. I reread the description after I posted. I decided to leave my post because I thought it would be an interesting discussion. Thanks for pointing that out, though.
I did learn some stuff form the discussion.
THanks,
