I have aquired an old non- modified LTD 400 and cannot seem to get the mids trimmed and have good base/treble response. Any settings you guys are using would be appreciated. Thanks |

Hi Johnny, I have just noticed it is a LTD 400 you have, the settings I gave you were from a Nashville 400.

You have the best steel amp ever made, IMHO. It has very few settings that DON'T sound good. The original Session 400 and LTD400 (same amp, smaller cabinet) rival anything made today or EVER, in my book.
With a bright guitar (e.g., Emmons and several others) I typically put bass at 8-10, treble at 3-4, mid slightly cut (4 or so) at about 800-900 Hz, and presence about 4-5.
That's for SOME rooms.
The best way I've found to EQ a Session/LTD is to start with everything straight up and do it by ear after you've set up. Sometimes that sounds fine, but if you want a beefier sound you can add some lows (maybe a LOT). Once you've done that, you might need to kick in a little highs to brighten it up (or not). Run the POST gain at 10 and the PRE gain wherever you need it for the room.

Thanks Allen. I will save your ssettings in case I ever have a Nash 400.
Larry, Thanks a lot. I had the mids squeezed down too much. Here is what I wound up with:
Presence:4 1/2
Treble: 4 3/4
Mid:4
Shift: 5
Base: 9
It sounds very good in this room at that.
This is really a great bunch of forumites. |
