I've read a lot of posts on all the different Lex's (110,500,550,mpx1,etc.) and am considering a 550 or an MPX1. Does anyone know which is the latest version and which if any is best for steel? I understand that the MPX1 has a separate processer for rev. and one for the other fx, but haven't been able to tell if the 550 has this as well. I can't try them all & don't want to just buy the most expensive and hope for the best. I know a lot of you favor one or the other and are satisfied with the one you have & all but I'm really trying to discern the differences here. Thanks--Scott

http://www.lexicon.com/index.asp

The website is very complete.
I would recommend the processors with 2 engines. One for reverb, one for everything else. Great lush reverbs.

Thanks Ron. I've been there but don't see where it says whether the 550 has two or not. It says proprietary Lexchip for internal fx. ??? Well I guess that means just one, which would probably hold true for the 110 too. I guess.

I think you are right. If it had two, they would be proud of it and advertise the fact.
I only mention the models with 2 "engines" because I could hear the reverb sounds I like. Like most things, you can get a very good unit for coupla hundred up to coupla thousand. The did make a guitar processor, 6 string electric, that was way too complex, called the MPX2 or M2? I think. Sounded good if you could figure it out. Darn manual was about 200 front/back pages. Looked like the Houston Yellow pages.
I think you would be happy with any of the units. Guitar Center has that 30 day free-trial.

I think I'll go with the two engines. I understand the MPX1 has the separate rev chip and I've seen them used for a reasonable price. Thanks.--Scott
