It looks like most of the bidding has been between two people, one with no feedback and one with 7 feedbacks. Sounds like someone's playing a trick on themselves.
This thing is WAY overpriced.

I believe that statement just by looking at those bars! It's undoubtably a guitar which is in beautiful mint condition, but hardly worth the asking price.  |

Ebay has no way of knowing if a buyer actually pays a seller for an item. All Ebay cares about is getting their commission on the sale.
So a buyer can have two friends enter fake bids to get the price up high. Hopefully this "bidding war" will generate interest in the item and a real buyer will step in at the last minute to clinch the deal.
If a real buyer wins the auction, the seller get's his dishonest price. If nobody bites, the seller has to pay his commission to Ebay. The seller can also tell Ebay that the deal fell through (I don't know what Ebay does in this instance). On a $1200 item I would imagine the commission to be about $150.
It's a gamble for the seller, but sometimes I bet it pays off.

I notice that there's another Champ, also in excellent condition, that's up to $1400!!
The same guy (the one with 7 feedbacks) is also bidding on this one. If you look at the bid history, it looks like he is bidding against himself. Very suspicious.
I've been looking for a Fender for a while now. Bid on a couple but lost. I recently ordered a new Harmos from James. With the way prices are going, it looks like I did the right thing.

Thanks Terry. I don,t want to get off on the wrong foot here by hijacking Cartwrights thread. But, yeah I'm pretty excited about the new Harmos. Should be here by this coming Friday.

This Ebay sale is a perfect example of why you need to take EBay with a grain of salt. Prices can vary by crazy amounts for no apparent (!) reason. I agree with those folks above in this thread who think there is bid hanky panky going on here.
And what about the seller putting the previous owner's Soc Sec number in a photograph on the web? If she weren't using it anymore I guess it wouldn't matter, but still - geez!
rant rant.

| A buddy of mine bought one of these at a yard sale about 7 or 8 years ago for $20. I put some new strings on it and played it for about two weeks before returning it to him. If he sees this he'll have it on e-bay! |
