HI Gang,
I have a National Consol D-8. It's a shorter scale and I'd like to know what gauges are best to use for the following tunings: E6 'ala Don Helms, C6, A6, And E13. I know that this info has been posted before. However, I can't seem to pull it up on the search.

So, PLEASE.......before I bleed to death or lose important body parts, any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Why not just install a standard set of strings for whatever neck you'd normally play on (no chromatics, I assume?)...and give it a whirl. Tune the strings differently as desired and forget the stress.
