How do they compare?Is it worth the Xtra money?(Pod's twice as much).
Are they both good enough for stage and studio?Profex better?

I'm not familiar with either unit, but you might want to add the Johnson J-Station to your list of models to check out. I got one for US$149 including shipping. It has 24 bit digital out too, so it's well suited to studio use.

I don't know if you have tried the v-amp, but I have the compared it side by side with the pod and the v-amp sounds just as good, it even has a few more features. However I don't know about the Podxt, but I here it is an excellent unit, I just don't have 400 dollars to spend. I run mine on the effects loop of a tubeworks blue tube II and it sounds great. The best part is, I don't have but $75 in mine.

I have a V-Amp, had in the past the older POD model, own the profex and the tubefex and since about 4 weeks the POD XT. And for my taste, my ears and also for handling... the XT is the far best unit I ever owned! It's noisefree, and after a few hours to work with, I got THAT sound I surched for a long time! The only thing is, I still fight with the parameters for direct,PowerAmp in and Front of a amp in..... you really have to fight to find the same sound in all 3!
If someone wanne have it, I will give ya my sound-setups.....
the v-amp is to noisy and thine!
anyway, just my two cents...  |

| After only two weeks I have found great clean and filthy tones from the POD XT, for both guitar and steels. The POD XT is a serious improvement over the original PODs. I found those useless for steel, but good for guitar. |

Hi John do a search on Pod XT settings.David Spires posted some based on the Jazz clean model that i thought were very effective for steel.I'd second the opinions that the XT is way beyond any other direct recording do wammys.

had alot of requests for my XT- settings..(even I'm still working on them to!)I'm out of town, but will be home thursday... so I will post a few setups then.... sorry to beeing late...
