Friends, here are some pics of a 12 string keyless lap steel thgat I built. Sierra gearless tuners, and nut, Wallace true tone P/u...everything else hand made. Set up with C6 chromatic; D,B,G,E,C,A,G,E,C,A,F,C, top to bottom. Tiger maple. Sounds good if I say so m'self.

Wow! That Tiger Maple is absolutely beautiful ! 12 strings is a bit too much for me to handle, however I admire your talent at building such a beautiful instrument and your courage to play so many strings...hope we can hear it on the Forum sometime soon.

John, that gearless tuner is from the old Crown series, eh?

What's the string spacing? Nice work.

For anyone here on No Peddlers who doesn't know John, he plays pedal steel (quite well) for the NY based western swing group, Western Caravan. They are excellent and have great original material.

Hi Howard,

Yes, the tuners are from a Sierra,(I think the crown series). Thanks to Bob Lee for sourcing assistance. The string spacing is .343 or around 11/32. Perhaps a tad tighter than my 10 string spacing. 24 inch scale, thanks to Rob Segal's fretboard program. Thank you for your kind words. I played the little'un on a few tunes at the Rodeo Bar last monday, and I didn't get thrown off stage....Best wishes, John

JOHN, in the words of Ralph Mooney,"Gawlee, that's a harp!" Seriously,it shows originality and creativity from end to end. It probably sounds great too. Any future plans for legs?

I like 12 strings. If I don't need that many, I don't have use them.

PS: I have read with interest the threads re: string thru body design, so that's what I did on this guitar, and I'm pleased. I will start building another (probably another 12) using a different bridge system, and it will be interesting to do a "Coke/ Pepsi" comparo.
