Has anybody put casters on their session 400, or will they work on a session?

Terry,
A good set of 2"or3" heavy duty rubber wheeled casters from Home Depot/Lowes will do the trick. Plenty of bottom thickness to support them, just be sure the screws are'nt too long and damage the reverb can. Also you might check Harbor Freight, they have a platform truck on sale at times for about $20,I have one and love it,just right for amp,steel,packseat....

Thanks Bill. I wadn't sure there was enough wood there for casters or not.

Terry, I would give a lot of thought to the subject of adding casters. I have had amps with casters but they caused problems if I wanted to lean the amp or put it on a stand or chair. It also creates a problem when hauling the amp in a vehicle.
I have used a little two wheeled luggage hauler for years now. They are available at Walmart for ~$15 and they fold for storage.
I haul my 60# NV400 on one. ..... JD |

Hey Terry,
I have had Peavey casters on my Session 400 since I bought it in 1978. In fact, I don't have hardly any Peavey amp without them. I find that a #8 stainless steel screw 3/4" long works better than the 1" screws that come with the Peavey wheels. On the subject of transporting the amp with wheels on it, I just simply lay the amp down on its back in my Avalanche, and it hauls just fine. Take care! |

I went to Home Depot and got a carpeted furniture dolly. Amp sits nice on it, plus I can put the guitar (in the case) on it and roll everything (including my pak-a-seat) to wherever I need to go.
My back really appreciates it!!!

Thanks to all replys. I have a nice little dolly with peumatic(sp) tires on it. it can be used like an appliance dolly, or set up as a hand truck. I just thought it would be easier to roll my amp than to haul that dolly around. I have an emmons D10, but hopefully I can get me an S10 before too long, and I could probly cary it without breakin my back. and if I had casters on my session I could just roll it most of the way.
I had back surgery about 4yrs ago, and I can tell my back is weakening from carrying this amp around.
what about vibration when rollin your amps, do you have problems with your reverb etc?
my session is about a 78 model and I don't want to mess the reverb or anything up.

The answer is TCH company out of Buffalo, N.Y. They make removeable peg casters that plug into receptacles that are easily screwed into the bottom of the amp. I have been using them for years on all my amps and have experienced no problems. I just pull the casters out of the amp when I get to the job and set up. I also have their wheels on my steel guitar cases. I don't carry amps or steels. TCH phone number is 800-465-6281. Ask for peg casters and a catalog. |

Like Kevin says..peg castors are the way to go.......I've had the same set on both my amps for 29 years, just sit my steel in its case and wheel ém along.....throw the castors in the back of the amp iff I am not needing them.....I mounted them with bolts right thru the wood..then washers and locknuts.
Couple of other things I have done to my P.V......I cut triangles of alloy flyscreen and araldited it to the back of the speaker to protect the cone.......I also put on a longer power lead and mounted a power socket in the back of the amp......comes in handy!
One more "Mod".......the heaviest duty carboard packing box stuff I could get and made a dropover cover for the amps and P.A columns....saves alsorts of travel wear. |
