Friends,

My newly acquired '74 p/p's tone control knob is only wired to ground. It does nothing.

The guitar has the factory dual-coil pickups, and what would be the tone-control bypass switch on a single coil (as I understand it) is now the coil-selection switch.

In this configuration, what would the factory wiring be for the tone control? Schematic or verbal description would be very helpful. I love the way the guitar sounds, but I hate to see an unused control.

Thanks!

When I had this same issue, I called the factory and they immediately faxed me a sheet of three wiring layouts -- Single neck, double neck and split coil. They did not fax me a schematic -- which is fine because it is easier for me to follow a layout than a schematic.

Hi Burton, Chris is right. You can get a wiring diagram from the Emmons Co.
I bought a 75 pp with the dual coil pickups. I didn't like the setup so I had Jerry Wallace rewind the pickups as single coils. Installation of the rewound pickups was no problem with the aforementioned wiring diagram. The guitar looks original and sounds great. Good luck to you.
