I considered giving this a try, but haven't put any time into it yet. The acoustic program on the Gen3 doesn't impress me. But, it may be a starting point. I probably won't have much time to daly with it for a few months. A group effort on this might prove to be successful.

the envelope follower parameter is probably the one that will give a dobro sound

I decided to try the acoustic patch on the Genesis 3. It's not much like a dobro sound, but it is interesting and it has an "unplugged" feeling to it. Here's part of the track:

This was my Sierra Session with a Bill Lawrence 712 pickup, into the Genesis 3. No volume pedal, no EQ at the recorder. I stayed on strings 4, 5 and 6 for the most part, and used a glass bar. The low strings had a lot of boom to them (very odd coming from the 712 pickup!).

Not exactly what you're looking for, but it might be a good starting point.

Here's what I've got so for using the acoustic patch. Cab- user (newamp),
EQ bass -5/ mid +10/ tre +8 WAH:botiqu/wah min 40/wah max29
COMP: med/Ratio 4.0-1/ Thresh 31/ Gain 6
Gate:silncr/Thresh 15/ Attack 0
Reverb:hall/pre-dly 10/damp 33/level-bal 8

This is using a E-66 pickup and it works better if you pick close to the pickup and I'm using headphones so I don't know how it sounds thru a amp yet.
