Eminence has a speaker out now that has the "Neodymium" magnet in it- the "Delta-Lite" series. http://editweb.iglou.com/eminence/eminence/pages/products02/neo/neomain.htm
- 7 oz magnet- 8.6# total weight- does anyone have any experience with these yet? In the Norris room at the Dallas show, they had an Evans amp with a new Emminence speaker, although I think Albert Talley said it had a three ounce magnet and was rated at 300 watts!  I didn't hear it, but Albert said it sounded great.  If they're anything like the Emminence speaker I used in my Evans amp for 20 years, they will kick @ss and take names! 
They had some boxes of Emminence speakers in the room but I don't know if they were these or not. |

| Those pictures aren't very good but that looks like the same one. I remember someone commenting on the cone shaped dust cover, which looks like what this speaker has. Have you found out what the price is? |

Not yet Jim but Noel said that it was about the same to price him vs. the standard magnet because of the reduction in shipping price (to Australia). Of course Gerry Walker was a bit skeptical because of:
1- 8 ohms and
2- no silver dome (ala JBL's)

| Jim--I believe that Dan Tyack uses a Celestion Neodymium (Century?) in combination with another speaker in a 2x12" cab. |

As you know, Peavey was waiting for the price to decrease in this technology, but we haven't abandoned the project as we have used neo magnets in our Q-Factor series of high end sound reinforcement speakers, and now we are working on a newly designed magnet for the Peavey neo speakers.
Unlike the Eminence company, we manufacture every type of product in the audio chain and production capacities and lines are limited. Therefore, careful scheduling allows us to produce multiple types of products at one time. Our speaker manufacturing facility is very capable of manufacturing a neo dymium speaker, but installing it into a steel amplifier might be a bit more difficult as there are many, many models that have to be built that use the same assembly lines.
Hope that this provides a better insight.

I use the Celestion neodymium speaker, and it is amazing. I prefer it in a cabinet with a JBL E-120, but of the two, I prefer the sound of the Celestion by itself. For a standard Nashille kind of tone I think most steel players would prefer a JBL, but I like the smooth high end and tight bass of the Celestion. I always mike that speaker.

Billy Phelps played a Nashville 1000 with the Eminence Delta-Lite speaker in our room at the Texas show. This speaker is only available in 8 Ohms at this time. Eminence has indicated that 4 Ohm speakers will be available later.
The amp weighed aproximately 46-48 Lbs. and sounded great.

| I just received my first new 2003 model Evans SE-200 amp three days ago. It weighs about 43 Lbs. on bathroom scales 200 watts RMS, has some neat new fearures like headphones jack, an excellent new digital reverb, retractable spring loaded front handle that acts as front cabinet tilt, and the new 15" Eminence speaker. It's impressive sounding here in the shop so I'm anxious to try it out on a job. It's not a budget amplifier at $1600.00 retail, but should appeal to the serious player. I played through an Evans '02 model and the '03 model side by side at the T.S.G.A. The '03 model sounded ok but the '02 model with the larger Delta/Emminence spkr magnet had a warmer tone to it with stronger mids and bass than the newer model. |

I received my Deltalite 2515 today and installed it tonight into my Evans FET 500 Custom LV. So far so good. Easy replacement.
Using a bathroom scale:
- The amp weight before the change was around 54.5 lbs
- The Eclipse speaker that I removed weighed around 16.5 lbs
- The Delta lite weighed around 8.5 (listed at 8.6 for shipping weight)
So, Around 8 lbs less. Doesn't sound like much but you can sure feel the difference.

The 2515 Deltalite is an awesome speaker for Steel. I put one in my SE 200 Evans and my bolt-on P/P sounds fabulous thru it. I currently have a Webb 614E w/JBL K130-4 ( very nice amp, very powerful) a PV NV 112 ( dont like the Blue Marvel speaker with my axe, waiting for BW 1203-4 replacement) had a PV NV 1000,a nice amp, which Paddy Long now has, MusicMan HD130 2x12 which sounds great for steel, and Evans SE 200. I must say the Deltalite in the Evans took a good while to break in from new but is definitely my preference for the tone that I prefer.As a bonus,the Evans is also the lightest of the amps that I have. I would love to sit in the audience and listen to a good player thru my set-up, but unfortunately Steel guitarists are as rare as rocking horse $*** here. I may have to fly Senor Long up from the South to accomplish this wish....IP

I wanted to put a Deltalite 15" in my Pro Reverb to get a moderate weight 70 watt tube amp, but it needs a 4 ohm.  I'm hoping when Peavey makes one it'll be a 4 ohm. |

Avatar Speakers sells the Neo 15" Eminence speaker for $144.99. I would be doubtful about the power handling capabilites though. I play my steel through a pair of Eminence BP102 (10" Bass guitar speakers) which are rated at 200 watts each. I use a PV-260 stereo amp which puts out 100 watts to each speaker, and that overdrives them. They haven't blown up, but they sound distorted even at half their power rating. They sure sound good when not overdriven though.
Someone should check the 15" neo out at full throttle just to be sure.

I got the chance to fool with a 4-ohm Deltalite (15")while doing some A-B speakers comparisons for the new Fender Steel King amps. I liked it right up until we plugged in a JBL. I wish that difference hadn't been so great because I was looking forward to lightening my load. It didn't sound bad whatsoever, it just didn't have the body and warmth the JBL had (or the other 4-ohm speakers we tried).

I initially started this thread over a year ago and have since acquired a pair of these speakers and found them to be a bit too sterile for what I was wanting and went back to JBL's. | I have a 2515 8 ohm Deltalite in one of my Evans Amps, and use a 115 Cabinet with a 2515 8 ohm Deltalite in it, which makes for a BIG sound. Even when using my Evans by it's self, the fact that I am using a 8 ohm Deltalite, instead of a 4 ohm Evans, does lower the power rating, but not enough to be a bother to me. I like the light weight and sound. |
